je suis actuellement à chengdu, dans la province du sichuan en chine
i am currently in chengdu, in the province of sichuan in China

il ne m'a pas été possible d'arriver jusque ici en vélo, j'avais mal planifié ma route à travers la chine et celle que j'avais décidé de prendre passe par les hauts plateaux désertiques du chinghai à 2000 mètres d’altitude…
de plus pour arriver sur ces hauts plateaux la route est une piste sur 200 km et passe par un col de 3600m.
it wasn't possible for me to reach this city by bicycle... i had badly planned my road through china and the one i decided to take was through the desertic high plateau of chinghai, 2000 meters of altitude... moreover to arrive on these high plateau the road is a dirt track on 200 km and passes by a mountain pass of 3600 meters.

arrivé à ruoqiang au sud-est de la province du xinjiang il faisait déjà -6 degrés le matin, toute mon eau était gelée et je n’avais pas tellement chaud, même dans mes deux sacs de couchage.
arrived in ruoqiang in the south-east of the xinjiang province it was already -6 degrees the morning, all my water was frozen and I was not so hot, even in my two sleeping bags.

j’ai donc décidé de prendre une jeep pour continuer ma route jusqu’à mangnai, une petite ville minière tout à l'ouest du chinghai puis j’ai pris un petit bus jusqu’à la grande ville suivante ou j’ai du rester deux nuits pour monter dans un bus à couchettes pour rejoindre xining tout à l’est du chinghai.
thus i decided to travel on a jeep to reach mangnai, a little city on the east border of chinghai then I took a little bus to the next large city where I had to stay for two nights to get into a sleeping bus to reach xining in the east of chinghai.

voila mes péripéties depuis le xinjiang…
je ne suis pas très fier de moi de n’avoir pas tout fait à vélo, mais par la route que je voulais prendre, ou même par une autre route moins élevée, ça aurait été un enfer pour moi…
je suis un peu frustré parce que mon voyage n’est pas parfait, mais il faut bien se dire que la perfection n’est pas de ce monde!
la chose positive est que ça me donne envie de refaire ce voyage en ne refaisant pas les mêmes erreurs.
so here are my adventures since xinjiang...
i am not very proud of myself because i haven't done everything on my bicycle, but by the road I wanted to take, or even by another lower road, it would have been hell for me...
i am a little frustrated because my voyage is not perfect, but anyway, perfection is not of this world!
the positive thing is that it gives me the desire of making again this trip, not making the same errors again.

arrivé à xining vers 5 heures du matin, j’ai attendu pour un bus pour rejoindre lanzhou 250 km plus à  l’est, mais voyant qu’il était difficile de mettre mon vélo dans ce bus, j’ai décidé de continuer à  vélo.
arrived in xining at around 5 in the morning, i waited for a bus to join lanzhou 250 km east, but seeing that it was difficult to put my bicycle on this bus, i decided to continue on my bike.

vers midi je n’avais fait que 60 km, j’étais fatigué et il faisait encore très froid (je voyais de la glace partout dans les champs bordant la route). Comme je ne voulais pas camper pour la nuit dans ce froid, j’ai détaché mes sacs et attendu pour un bus pour rejoindre lanzhou.
near midday i had made only 60 km, i was tired and it was still very cold (i saw ice everywhere in the fields bordering the road). as i did not want to camp for the night in this cold, i took off my bags and waited for a bus to reach lanzhou.

arrivé à lanzhou il m’a été impossible de trouver un bus allant où je voulais, j’ai donc dû aller à la gare prendre un billet pour le train du lendemain pour chengdu.
in lanzhou it was impossible for me to find a bus going where I wanted, thus i go to the train station to take a ticket for the next day train for chengdu.

la personne juste devant moi au guichet de la gare était un anglais qui voulait aussi aller à chengdu, comme je ne savais pas ou passer la nuit, il m’a proposé de partager sa chambre d’hôtel près de la gare.
the person right in front of me at the counter of the station was an english who also wanted to go in chengdu, as I did not know where to sleep, he proposed to share his hotel room close to the station.

le lendemain on a donc voyagé ensemble et le surlendemain je suis allé dans la même guesthouse que lui à chengdu (je n’ai pas de guide et je suis un peu perdu dans les grandes villes chinoises…)
the following day we traveled together and two days later I went in the same guesthouse as him (I do not have a guidebook and I am a little lost in the large Chinese cities...)

chengdu m’a d’abord semblé être un bonne ville pour rester quelques jours et trouver le matériel que je voulais pour mon vélo (un nouveau compteur, des gants et surtout de nouveau pneus: ceux que j’avais montés à téheran sont très usés: un a d’ailleurs explosé près de kuqa au xinjiang, je l’ai remplacé par un de l’autre paire que j’avais mais ces pneus ont souffert du soleil et ont des bosses…)
chengdu first seemed me to be a good city for staying a few days and find the material i wanted for my bicycle (a new speedmeter, gloves and especially new tires: those which i had put in Teheran are very worn: one already explodes close to kuqa in xinjiang, i replaced it by one of the other pair i had but these tires suffered from the sun and made bumps...)

en fait chengdu n’est pas vraiment le bon endroit: l’air est très humide et surtout très pollué, ces deux derniers jours je n’ai même pas vu le soleil!
actually chengdu of it is not really a good place: the air is very wet and especially very polluted, these the last two days I did not even see the sun!

et pour mon vélo je n’ai pas réussi à trouver les pneus que je voulais et le nouveau compteur et les gants que j’ai achetés sont au même prix qu’en europe…
and concerning my bicycle i did not succeed to find the tires i wanted and the new speed-meter and the gloves i bought are at the same price than in europe...

je vais donc partir demain pour kunming où je vais prendre mon visa lao et sûrement rester une semaine. on m’a dit que l’air était plus pur la bas et que c’était une ville plus reposante que chengdu.
thus i will leave tomorrow for kunming where i will take my lao visa and will surely spend a week there. It was said to me that the air was purer it low and that it was a better city more than chengdu.
